Privacy policy

This policy explains in plain language which data we handle, why we use it and the control you have over it.

Last updated: 12 August 2026

1. Controller

The controller is the owner of the independent GenderGuess project and the genderguess.site domain. Direct communications are handled through the contact form.

2. Data we process

  • Game and preferences: language, session rounds, best score, daily challenge, streak and privacy choice, stored on your device.
  • Contact and corrections: message, request type, affected profile, supporting sources and, if supplied, name and email.
  • First-party analytics: with consent, aggregated daily counters for visits, language, broad geographic market, rounds and game events. We do not store IP addresses in our analytics database.
  • Google Analytics 4: with the same consent, browsing information such as pages, events, duration, device, browser, source and approximate location. We do not send names, email addresses or our own identifiers for individuals.
  • Google AdSense: device, browser, visited page, approximate location, displayed ads or interactions, together with cookie or storage identifiers where applicable. Google and the providers shown in its CMP use this information to deliver, measure and protect advertising, and to personalise it when consent exists.
  • Technical data: the hosting provider may temporarily process information essential for security, content delivery and abuse prevention.

3. Purposes and legal bases

Necessary local storage provides the game functions you request. Contact and correction requests are processed to respond, maintain profile accuracy and protect the service, based on your request and our legitimate interest in operating the site. Optional analytics and advertising will rely solely on consent.

4. Recipients and transfers

Data is hosted on the site infrastructure. We do not sell personal data. We use Google Analytics and Google AdSense, provided in Europe by Google Ireland Limited. Google may process data in other countries under the mechanisms and safeguards described in its data-protection terms and disclose data to advertising providers identified in the CMP. Consent and opt-out decisions are respected through the controls available in each region.

5. Retention

Preferences remain on your device until you delete them. Requests are retained while they are reviewed and for no more than twelve months after closure, unless a legal duty or the defence of claims requires longer retention. The standard Google Analytics property retains user and event data for the period configured in the service; aggregated reports may be kept for longer.

6. Your rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction or portability through the contact form, writing “Privacy” in the message. You may withdraw consent through the “Privacy” button. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority; in Spain this is the AEPD.

7. Children

GenderGuess does not create accounts or knowingly request data from children. Anyone under 14 should not submit a form without permission from a parent or legal guardian.

8. Changes

We will update this policy when processing, providers or features change. The date shown at the top identifies the current version.
